7 things to check when choosing property management software

This post lists seven things to check — before price — when choosing property management software, so you don't get stuck with the wrong one.

The worst case for a building manager is paying for software you end up not using. Before you choose, check:

  1. Will residents actually use it? The best panel is useless if residents don't install the app. It has to be simple and worth downloading.
  2. Is dues collection online? Dues collected by hand are dues collected late. Online payment and automatic reminders are a must.
  3. Is there fault/request tracking? The one thing that ends the "but I told you" argument is a request log.
  4. Where do documents live? Contracts, meeting minutes, invoices — one archive, not the manager's phone.
  5. Is data security taken seriously? You're collecting dues and personal data. KVKK compliance, retention, and permissions are non-negotiable.
  6. What happens when the manager changes? Is the data yours or the software's? Everything must be transferable.
  7. Is support a real human? Someone you can reach when something breaks is worth more than a long feature list.
